Welcome!!!

Since the negative effects of coronavirus are obvious, I am here to discuss the positive effects it has had on my life. At first, I felt very lonely. I live with essential workers, so I spend a lot of time alone at home. Even when my family was home, we kept our distance to stay safe. I became very sad very quickly. It was then that I decided to take advantage of my time alone and turn it into something positive. I decided to make the most of this time by working on myself. I wanted to start new hobbies and improve on old ones. I wanted to spend more time relaxing, because being productive doesn’t necessarily mean you have to do something physical. We are designed to work, to be active. We hardly get any breaks. Now is the time to take advantage and take time to relax and catch up on the things you always wanted to do but never had time to do. At first it was hard to not be around my loved ones. Being alone can be a scary thing. It leaves you alone with your thoughts, and thinking too much brings negative thoughts. It’s important to stay positive and not worry about things you can’t control. We can all learn something from this, and I think this pandemic is going to start a new way of life.

Hi! I am happy to hear you are staying positive during this time. For myself, the stay-at-home order has mostly effected me academically in both positive and negative ways. Although I would have preferred to take my first graduate school courses in class and experience it to the fullest, I understand why this is necessary. While everything is crazy in the world right now having assignments and papers to do has kept my mind busy. I appreciate the time out of my week where I can forget what is going on in the world and focus on my academics. I have also been able to connect with other students more, as we are all going through this together and people have been able to open up about their current circumstance during our zoom calls. Overall I’m grateful to be busy during this time but like everyone else, I wish things were different.
